Too Busy Being Me

Amidst this sad consciousness of imperfection, here is comfort for you–you are “perfect in Christ Jesus.”  ~ Spurgeon

I am so imperfect.  And quite the imperfect blogger.  I’ve been terribly sporadic this year!  So, thought it time to lay out all my excuses and explain why I’ve been less-than-regular with writing and encouragement.

My husband has often says of himself, “It’s a full-time job just being me.”

And so with Linda….I’ve been too busy being me.

Being me, as any beloved child, is about partaking in God’s daily discipline and grace.  Discipline, because I need it so much, and truly deserve it.  Grace, well, because I need it so much, and don’t deserve it.

And being me has felt a bit like Bilbo Baggins, who said he felt “thin, sort of stretched, like butter, scraped over too much bread.”

Stretched, but content…

~~Living in Ottawa, but preparing to leave for our “other” home, building on relationships while facing goodbyes, being served by the very people I seek to serve, tutoring and plugging along with my degree, surprisingly chosen for the “novel” task of ghostwriting,  and most recently, selected to be a contributing author for Regent University’s new blog.

~~A grateful wife of 36 years to a lovely, deep man, with an oft broken, contrite, yet humorous spirit!

~~Always a mom, though my daughters are grown and don’t live anywhere nearby.   But I’m a mom, and thankfully, ever will be!

~~A grandma to two precious little ones, with another on the way!  When I’m with them, I can’t imagine being away.  And when I’m away→→I skype!!

.

~~An only, beloved child to my sweet mom, and this year, planning her 80th birthday celebration and reunion! How priceless is that?!

Being me may keep me from blogging regularly, but may it never keep me from daily seeking the Lord, leaning on and learning of His unfailing love and surpassing mercy.

I just pray that me being me won’t get in the way of

Him being Him,

in me,

for

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

Maybe you could share how you maintain blogging and other responsibilities, while still being you?

  1. As always I love you and I love this blog! I have tried to comment on past posts, and been defeated by some problem with my WordPress account, that deletes my post…so I will try again. I think there are truly Seasons for everything, we hear this all the time–But, I think what matters is why you write the blog, not how many posts you complete. You are serving His purpose. And with finishing school, tutoring, being a blog contributor and ghostwriter, not to mention all the other variables and roles, your focus shifts. Not forever, temporarily. When you do come back to share your heart, its always meaningful, timely, and filled with wisdom from your daily devotions with the Lord and Author of our lives… I love you~

  2. Thank you Joy! I try to embrace the idea of seasons, but deep down, I fear change and want to hold onto whatever season I’m currently in. Silly me–I can trust the Lord! Thank you for your encouragement–as always!! I love you!

  3. Linda – it sounds like your priorities are in line, so keep up the good (real life) work! Your blog (as with mine) is a hobby, and one that is fun, but should always fall second to real life relationships, opportunities, and our daily walk with the Lord. If the blog comes before my relationship with my Heavenly Father, then I know there is a problem. You have so much going on and I’d love to hear more about your opportunity to ghost write! So exciting! Blessings!

  4. WordPress is giving some people problems with leaving comments. Please let me know if this happens to you.

My dear, long-distance friend, Lidia, who blogs at Crown of Beauty (http://mla-crownofglory.blogspot.ca/), had this problem with WordPress, so she asked me to add her comment here! Thank you Lidia!

Linda, what a delight to think of you this early Saturday morning, then hop over to your blog place to visit, and discover a brand new post – probably still warm from the oven.

Even though you have not been as active and visible as you used to be in the blog neighborhood, to me, your absence can only mean one thing – that you are busy with being you, and that is always a good place to be. Because it only means that you are attending to your priorities, and you are doing the assignment God has entrusted to you. I see a bit of myself in you – living in two worlds, in my case, I shuttle back and forth between two cities… my home city of Bacolod, and the city where my daughter lives, Manila the city of my birth and upbringing, two cities I dearly love. Maintaining two homes… like you… and nurturing two sets of friendship… and for me, relating to two sets of family… two churches… two sets of ministry. Surely in God’s eyes, there is no separation. All we do is part and parcel of who we are and what we have been called to do in this season.

I do love you, dear precious blog friend… and yes, I can definitely relate to what is on your heart as you have so beautifully expressed on this post. Oh, yes, I also have grandchildren, two very young boys both living in Bacolod City. So I always have a welcome treat each time I return home!

Advance congratulations on your third one!

    Blessings
    Lidia

  5. I loved this, Linda! And your photos too. And just so’s you know…”you being you” is evidence of “Him being Him” in your life…always. You inspire me. Or rather, He inspires me, through you. ♥
