“Mighty to Save.” Isaiah 63:1
The internet is often dangerous for me. I get overwhelmed and burdened with excessive coverage of news, from “big” events, such as the devastation in Haiti, to the personal sorrows of strangers. And then eternity comes to view, and I wonder, where are these hundreds of precious souls headed? Do they know Jesus? But the Lord doesn’t want ME to handle all of this. He wants me to trust HIM.
Spurgeon encouraged me about these matters which are all ‘too difficult for me’ (Ps 131:1) today:
The words [mighty to save] are multum in parvo—much in little. Indeed, here is all mercy in one word! Believer, here is encouragement. Are you praying for some loved one? Oh, do not give up your prayers, for Christ is “mighty to save.” You are powerless to reclaim the rebel, but your Lord is almighty.
Lay hold of His mighty arm and rouse it to put forth its strength. Does your own case trouble you? Fear not, for His strength is sufficient for you. whether to begin with others or to carry on the work in you, Jesus is “mighty to save.” The best proof lies in the fact that He has saved you!
I carry this verse in my heart through song, written and sung by Laura Story. Worship with YouTube version below or the uploaded song in the blue Music Box. What a powerful proclamation that our God is Mighty to Save!
