Love Poem

“We love Him, because He first loved us.”  I John 4:19

I love Thee, Lord, but with no love of mine,

For I have none to give:

I love Thee, Lord, but all the love is Thine,

For by Thy love I live.

I am as nothing, and rejoice to be,

Emptied, and lost, and swallowed up in Thee.

from Spurgeon’s devotional, Morning by Morning, July 11 entry.

  1. How true that we can love because he first loved us!

I think of the words of that old hymn ( If ever I loved thee) really says it:

I shall love thee in life, I shall love thee in death
And praise thee as long as thou lendest me breath,
And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow
If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, tis now.

  2. Think of it, we cannot even love the Lord without His love being poured out within us. We are so dependent on Him.

What do you think??
