Grace

Grace is NOT:

From without: legalism, expectations, traditionalism, manipulation, demands, negativism, control, comparison, perfectionism, competitions, criticism, pettiness, and a host of others;
“and from within: pride, fear, resentment, bitterness, and unforgiving spirit, insecurity, fleshly effort, guilt, shame, gossip, hypocrisy, and so much more…”

Chuck Swindoll, The Grace Awakening, pg. 306

Grace IS:

Thou Son of the Blessed,
what grace was manifested in Thy condescension.
Grace brought Thee down from Heaven;
     grace stripped Thee of Thy glory;
     grace made Thee poor and despised;
     grace made Thee bear such burdens of sin,
          such burdens of sorrow,
          such burdens of God’s curse as are unspeakable.
O Son of God!
Grace was in all Thy tears;
     grace came out of Thy side with Thy blood;
     grace came forth with every word of Thy sweet mouth;
     grace came out where the whip smote Thee;
          where the thorn pricked Thee,
          where the nails pierced Thee.
Here is grace indeed!
Grace to make angels wonder,
     grace to make sinners happy,
     grace to astonish devils.”
John Bunyan

“The terrors of Law and of God
with me can have nothing to do;
My Saviour’s obedience in blood
hid all my transgressions from view.”

Augustus Toplady

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. ..For of His fulness we have all received, and grace upon grace.” John 1:14, 16

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 6:23

  1. That really ministered to me Mom…I have been really dealing with some spiritual battles, now that Steve and I have said yes to doing some Kingdom work for the Lord–with teens! Yikes ;-0 I am excited, humbled, and terrified at the same time. I was struggling with feelings of inadequecy( sp?) I am just trying to focus on the BIG picture, and my mind was racing with thoughts of the past mistakes I had made–Isaiah reminds us with inspired by God, that ” Although our sins were like scarlet, we ( as new creatures in Christ) are white as snow.” How calming. It is a struggle many face daily, to get passed the past. Love you and Dad so very much, your words written and said, have been inspiring throughout my life
